All bargain hunters welcome at Pateros all-town yard sale

All true bargain hunters know that yard sales are some of the best hunting grounds, and it stands to reason that a whole town full of yard sales will offer the best opportunity of all. That's what will draw bargain hunters to the annual all-town yard sale in Pateros this Friday and Saturday, Aug. 16 and 17. It's sponsored by the Pateros Chamber of Commerce.

The all-town sale concept has been around for a while, and this year it was moved to coincide with the annual Pateros Hydro Classic (see separate story). Residents and organizations all around town haul out the good old stuff that they don't need anymore, along with all that stuff with real potential. In the past city officials always graciously provided space in a city park for people who wanted to have a yard sale but lacked a yard in Pateros. Those rent-a-yard spaces will be available this year, but the venue has been changed because the hydros will be filling Pateros Memorial Park. This year people can set up their yard sales in Peninsula Park, right at the mouth of the Methow River.

Even in a little town like Pateros, even with committed bargain hunters, it's a little tricky to find all those yards, so Pateros Chamber of Commerce members prepare a map every year. It will be available at Pateros City Hall late today and all day tomorrow and at participating Pateros businesses on Saturday.
