American Legion Post 97 happenings

Posted
American Legion Post 97 invites all those who have no family or nowhere to go for Christmas dinner to please join us at the Post at 2 p.m. on Christmas Day. The Post will be accepting donations of non- perishable items to give to the food bank. Persons can also donate money to help pay for the dinner by dropping it off at the Post.

The Post has been hosting the Christmas dinner that originally was sponsored by the Lincoln Tavern until it burned to the ground. This year the dinner will be prepared by Gale and Thea Nilsen, who have volunteered their time to make this a special meal for those who are in need of a place to go. They will be assisted by a number of great volunteers who give of their time so others can enjoy a great meal and the comradeship and spirit of the season. Please feel free to come on down and enjoy a great meal and spend the afternoon with others on this very special day.

The members of Post 97 want to wish everyone a merry Christmas, and please have a safe and happy new year. Don't forget that the Post will also be hosting a fireworks show and holding a dance on New Year's Eve. The fireworks display will be held at 8 p.m. so that everyone from the little ones to the elderly will be able to attend. Again, donations for the fireworks can be left at the Post. You do not have to be a member to come down to watch the fireworks, but if you plan on attending the dance you will have to be a member or a bona fide guest. The cost will be $5 and a can of non-perishable goods to be donated to the food bank. Winter has definitely arrived, so please take a little extra time and get to your destination safely.
