BREWSTER

Senior center sale

A half-price sale is happening this Saturday, March 2 at the Brewster-Bridgeport-Pateros Senior Center, 109 S. Bridge St.

Youth baseball

Sign-ups for Brewster Youth Baseball will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. March 14 in the Brewster High School Commons. Kids from Brewster and Pateros are welcome. Boys and girls T-ball players must be 5 years old, and the cost for registration is $30. Registration for the ages 8-10 boys minors is $35. Boys no older than 12 as of April 30 can play in the majors, and the cost for that is also $35. For more information, call Wendy Witt at (509) 733-1195.

Legion pool tourney

American Legion Post 97 hosts its weekly pool tournament each Sunday starting at 2 p.m. Entry fee is $5. There were 10 players at the Feb. 24 tournament. Mike Flanniganwon first place, Brandon Caswell took second place and Bob Lewis won third.

SOS

Hurry on over to the Community Log Church every Wednesday for Bible stories, songs, snacks, games and much more fun! This opportunity is open to kids in kindergarten through sixth grades after school, from 3:15 to 5 p.m. The church is located at 209 S. 4th St.

HOSTS

The Brewster Elementary School HOSTS program is looking for mentors to work with students in reading. HOSTS is an acronym for "Help One Student To Succeed." Kids work one-on-one with a mentor for 45 minutes from Tuesday through Friday. It is a very rewarding program to see the growth in the kids, but the main thing about our program is the lifelong bond that is made between a student and the mentor. BRIDGEPORT

Help a local cancer patient

The family of Brittan Schmidt, who has a rare form of brain cancer, has established a fund to help pay for medical expenses as he undergoes treatment. Donations can be dropped off at Sterling Bank and Wells Fargo Bank in Brewster.

Developmental screening

Bridgeport School District Special Services Program provides free developmental screening for all students residing in the district age 3-21. If you suspect your child has a disability please contact Raelynn or Mayra at 686-5656 to schedule a screening.

REGIONAL

Democratic Party dinner

Valerie Rongey, vice-chair for the Washington State Democratic Party, will be a featured speaker at the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner on March 9 in Cashmere. The annual event is sponsored by the Democrats of Chelan and Douglas Counties. Also featured at the dinner will be live music performed by The Saddle Rockers, auctions and presentations.

The event will begin with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. at the Cashmere Riverside Center. A barbecue buffet dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 884-7488 or 663-1950, or by email NCWDems@gmail.com.

Methow job fair

Area businesses are invited to participate in the Methow Valley Job Fair. Free booths for anyone interested. Businesses from all over North Central Washington are participating. This is a great way to promote your business, network with other businesses and community members, learn about hiring incentives available for your business and of course look for employees. Refreshments will be served.

The job fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, March 7 at the Methow Valley Community Center in Twisp. WorkSource, The Cove, Twisp Works, the Methow Valley Community Center, Room One, Three Rivers Hospital, Career Path Services and Economic Alliance are partners in hosting the job fair.

Free business seminars

Two free seminars will be held in Okanogan County on March 19. The first is Woman-Owned Small Business Certification, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Koala Street Grill in Omak. You'll receive forms and a checklist of items you'll need; a list of requirement guidelines; knowledgable local resources and more. The second seminar is How to do Business with the Federal Government, to be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at Whistlers Restaurant in Tonasket. Topics include market research into what the government buys, and how government agencies advertise their procurements. Hoops for Hope

Registration is open for the third annual Hoops for Hope 3 on 3 basketball tournament. All proceeds will go to The Support Center. It will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 9 at Okanogan Jr./Sr. High School, 244 5th Ave. N. Divisions include third and fourth grade boys and girls, fifth and sixth grade boys and girls, seventh and eighth grade boys and girls, high school co-ed and adults co-ed.
