BREWSTER

Youth baseball

Sign-ups for Brewster Youth Baseball will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. March 14 in the Brewster High School Commons. Kids from Brewster and Pateros are welcome. Boys and girls T-ball players must be 5 years old; the cost for registration is $30. Registration for the ages 8-10 boys minors is $35. Boys no older than 12 as of April 30 can play in the majors, and the cost for that is also $35. For more information, call Wendy Witt at (509) 733-1195.

Legion pool tourney

American Legion Post 97 hosts its weekly pool tournament each Sunday at 2 p.m. Entry fee is $5. There were 12 players at the March 3 tournament. Gary Ives won first place, Larry Boyd took second place and Shawn Kelly won third.

Help a local cancer patient

The family of Brittan Schmidt, who has a rare form of brain cancer, has established a fund to help pay for medical expenses as he undergoes treatment. Donations can be dropped off at Sterling Bank and Wells Fargo Bank in Brewster.

PATEROS

APJ meeting

Pateros Apple Pie Jamboree donation requests are available at the Pateros public library. The due date is March 15. If you have questions, call Tracy at 923-2760 after 5 p.m. The next meeting is at 11 a.m. Friday, April 5 at Sweet River Bakery.

Irrigation District meeting

The Pateros Irrigation District will hold a regular meeting at 8 a.m. Friday, March 8 at the Agrimac office in Pateros.

REGIONAL

NCRTPO meeting

The next North Central Regional Transportation Planning Organization board meeting will be Wednesday, March 13 at Chelan City Hall, 135 E. Johnson Ave. The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. and the public is always welcome.

The Support Center

Every two years, service providers, stakeholders and interested community members are asked to help assess current services to sexual assault victims, identify gaps in community services based on the needs of sexual assault victims and then determine the service priorities for the region.  Services to be prioritized are support groups and therapy. Everyone interested is invited to attend on from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. March 12. The community meeting will be held at The Support Center, 613 South First Ave. in Okanogan. Mended Hearts

Greater Wenatchee MendedHearts Chapter 91 will hold its next meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 12 at Smitty's Pancake House, 1621 N. Wenatchee Avenue in Wenatchee. Nonprofit training

The Nonprofit Practices Institute will bring nonprofit consultant Susan Howlett to North Central Washington for nonprofit training. This training will focus on fundraising and strategic planning. Two sessions are available: Tuesday, March 12, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Methow Community Center and Wednesday, March 13 at Wenatchee Valley College Theatre. Admission is $10 and includes lunch. 'Bridges out of Poverty'

The Okanogan County Community Action Council will host "Bridges out of Poverty" training from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 15 at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, 328 N Riverside Dr. in Omak. Matsura in Malott

The Malott Grange will host an open house from noon to 4 p.m. March 17 called "Reflections: An Afternoon with Frank Matsura." Matsura was an early 20th century Japanese photographer. Guest speaker Daniel Lamberton will present "A Few Things I'd Like to Know about Frank Matsura" at 1 p.m. At 2:30 p.m., Doug Woodrow will speak on the "Lawn Chair Lecture" series. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted for Matsura Centennial Projects. The event is sponsored by the Malott Grange and the Okanogan County Historical Society.

Free job retention/leadership training will be held March 19 at the Confluence Technology Center, 285 Technology Center Way in Wenatchee.
