OMAK/TWISP - The Okanogan Democrats will be meeting at 12 Tribes Casino in Omak on Saturday, July 6, from 12:00 to 2:30 p.m.  A simulcast will be held in Twisp at the Methow Valley Citizens Council office at 315 E Methow Valley Hwy. Monique Bourgeau will be the guest speaker.  She is a recent graduate of the Institute for a Democratic Future where she brought an Okanogan perspective to the group of 32 fellows over the six-month intensive.  Weekend trips throughout the state, a week in Olympia and five days in Washington DC helped Bourgeau build relationships and develop a network for progressive activism. She says; “We are all uniquely connected thru the universe and time to use our voices, hearts and minds to create change.”  Bourgeau’s work at the Language House of Inchelium and her strong ties to Native traditions of storytelling contribute to her ability to articulate in a cultural context.  As a Native, she hopes to bring an insightful voice to the climate change conversation.  For more information, contact Valerie Sarratt, Secretary, Okanogan County Democrats. secretary@okanogandemocrats.org
