Christmas on Columbia kicks off Dec. 4 in downtown Brewster

Posted
There will be a town celebration in Brewster in 2009, but it will be moved to July 4.

Whether it's a July 4 celebration or retains the name Bonanza Days is still to be determined, but whichever way it goes, all of the activities will be in the Brewster City Park. There will be a parade, tentatively scheduled for 4 p.m., but the route is still to be determined.

The Chamber's annual Christmas promotion, Christmas on the Columbia, will begin Thursday, Dec. 4 and run through Friday, Dec. 19. Winners will be chosen every day but Sunday and will be announced every weekday at 10:30 a.m. over KOZI Radio in Chelan. At least 30 merchants are participating to date, donating at least 150 prizes, "sandwiches to dinners to cash to gas-you name it, it's there," said Chamber board member Rebecca Meadows. Some businesses donate a prize each day, while others give away prizes every few days during the promotion; there will be three grand prizes this year, and the winners of those will be announced Dec. 19.

The Chamber's 2009 events calendar also includes the fourth annual salmon fishing derby in August, as well as the Chamber banquet, scheduled for March 16. The Chamber also will be one of the sponsors of the Health Fair, with the date to be announced.

A list of events, along with a list of monthly meetings, can be found at the Chamber's website, www.brewsterchamber.org.
