President Trump a bitter pill to swallow

APPLES TO APPLES Gary Bégin

So President Trump lies and he womanizes and he has not too much class when it comes to showing empathy to storm victims or shooting victims or any victims and he perhaps has a few shady business dealings in his past. Okay, I'll give all of his critics that much.

Other than that, oh yea, and that nepotism issue, he's actually reversed the tables on the national media and the status quo of Washington, just like his former advisor Steve Bannon wanted him to do.

He prefers to make stuff up out of thin air and not read the teleprompter, but then speaking extemporaneously has not been too kind to his rendition of the truth. Of course his critics, holding on to dear life to their vision of government, history and tradition, have been quick to seize every painful moment of his failures.

They are not to blame as the way things are going in modern America, it is usually difficult to be working free of criticism when your life is being lived under a magnifying glass by the opposition party and the media.

What makes our "Dear Leader" so special is that he apparently doesn't care about most of the criticism as long as he pleases those that brought him to the White House.

Why then is it so hard for the rest of the country to understand that he has no obligation to please them, those that wished him failure before, during and after he was sworn in as the head of the world's greatest country?

It shouldn't be a secret that the New York billionaire is going to nominate conservative judges to SCOTUS, attempt to squash big government and narrowly define union rights.

It's like asking the panther not to kill the deer.

If Trump should only last another year before he is impeached, he has already done some great things from the perspective of the right that Ronald Reagan, both Bushes and Richard Nixon never did: Nominate two conservative judges to SCOTUS and a couple dozen more to various federal benches as well as move the American embassy in Israel to their rightful capital of Jerusalem.

This alone should endear him to orthodox Jews, Catholics and evangelicals worldwide and to anti-abortion adherents throughout America, even if the "choice" movement is predominant. The fact that he isn't pandering to the politically correct among us pleases me and every other frustrated person in the country that for years has elected Republicans and never gotten that much bang for their buck.

Think about this: Trump is a former Democrat, but has freely donated to both sides. Reagan was also a former Democrat and union guy and what did we get regarding Jerusalem or abortion? Nada, zippo, zilch.

Ditto for Nixon or the Bushes because they didn't have the sheer political willpower to buck the status quo or upset those sensitive Arabs.

It is about time Americans stop cowering to Arab sentiments vis-a-vis Jerusalem and make the world realize we too have the right to protect our Judeo-Christian heritage and the homeland of that heritage.

It is also a major tenant of these two religions that abortion is evil manifest. Therefore protecting the unborn is also de rigueur for any religious conservative and neither Reagan, nor the Bushes or Nixon were able to stop this evil.

Impeach Trump if you will, majority America, but the conservative right will never forget that he had at least two major victories during his "failed" presidency and for that, we will forever be grateful.

Besides that, it is possible that Vice President Mike Pence will have the guts to carry on the Trump legacy, at least the pro-life, pro-Israel part.
