Cemetery district seeks new secretary

Commissioners from Okanogan County Cemetery District No. 3 are soliciting a volunteer to take over the secretary/treasurer position. The commissioners oversee operation of the Pateros Cemetery.

People who want to volunteer can contact Dale Parks, who's one of the commissioners, 923-2403 or 923-2620.

Saturday night movie in Pateros park Aug. 30

All Pateros-area residents are being invited to an outdoor presentation of the animated film Cars Saturday, Aug. 3 at 8 p.m. in Pateros Memorial Park. Residents are invited to "bring lawn chairs or come sit in the bleachers and enjoy an evening (in the) park," said Mayor Gail Howe. Movie Night is sponsored by the Pateros Public Library and the city of Pateros.

Fifth Sunday Sing this weekend

The Mountain View Pentecostal Church of God will host an evening "Fifth Sunday Sing" this Sunday, August 31 at 6 p.m.; participants are encouraged to bring their favorite hymn suggestions. Refreshments will follow.

The church is located at 109 Pine Street on Bridgeport Bar.

Salmon on Fort Okanogan Museum program

Sydney Hudson of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be talking about salmon and their place in the Columbia River system habitat at the weekly program at the Fort Okanogan Museum this Saturday, Aug. 30 at 1 p.m. at the museum.

Hudson will talk about salmon life cycles, spawning, migration, as well as their place in the culture of the state and region. The museum is located about four miles north of Brewster, about a half-mile from the junction of Highway 97 and SR 17.
