Seeking alumni

Blood drive

The next American Red Cross blood drive will be held from noon to 5 p.m. April 18 at the Columbia Cove Community Center, 601 W. Cliff Ave. The blood drive is sponsored by Three Rivers Community Alliance. For more information, contact Janet Hanke at 689-3749.

Legion pool tourney

American Legion Post 97 hosts its weekly pool tournament each Sunday at 2 p.m. Entry fee is $5. There were eight players at the March 31 tournament. Bill Scofield won first place, Michael Flannigan took second place and Shawn Kelly won third.

Help a local cancer patient

The family of Brittan Schmidt, who has a rare form of brain cancer, has established a fund to help pay for medical expenses as he undergoes treatment. Donations can be dropped off at Sterling Bank and Wells Fargo Bank in Brewster.

Kindergarten registration

Kindergarten registration and screening for the 2013-2014 school year will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 11 in the Pateros school library. If you are planning to enroll your child in kindergarten for the upcoming school year, please call the school at 923-2343 ext. 2 to schedule an appointment.

Child Find

The Pateros School District is seeking people from birth to age 21 who are enrolled in school and who may need special education services. The North Central Education District defines special needs as having concerns with hearing, vision, speech, learning development delay, behavior, autism or other disabilities. Contact the school to schedule a screening, 923-2343. Screening day will be April 11 at the school, 344 W. Beach St.

APJ meeting

The next Apple Pie Jamboree committee meeting will be held at 11 a.m. this Friday, April 5 at Sweet River Bakery.

Mended Hearts

Greater Wenatchee Mended Hearts Chapter 91 will hold its next meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 9 at Smitty's Pancake House, 1621 N. Wenatchee Ave. in Wenatchee. Dr. John R. Rowles, and Dr. William Murray will speak about the surgical and medical aspects of heart valves and disease. First Tuesday

The Methow Conservancy will present "The Lives of Washington's Wildlife in Words, Pictures, and Song" from 7 to 8:30 p.m. April 9 at the Twisp River Pub. This family-friendly program is free and open to everyone. For more information, contact Mary at 996-2870 or mary@methowconservancy.org.

'Methow Essentials'

The Methow Conservancy will hold a "Methow Essentials" workshop from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. April 11. Learn correct fruit tree pruning and "training" techniques for improved fruit quality and size, tree health and pest control. The cost is $14 and space is limited. Tax day rally

The Okanogan Valley Tea Party will hold its fifth annual Taxed Enough Already Rally at 4 p.m. on Tax Day, April 15, at the intersection of Norman and Third avenues in Okanogan. Anyone interested is invited to participate. Please bring signs and flags, family and friends. There will be an open mic.

OCSRA scholarship

Okanogan County residents who are at least a college junior and are working toward an initial certificate in an educational field may apply now for a scholarship offered by the Okanogan County School Retirees Association. The scholarship amount will be no less than $600. Deadline for completed application form is May 1. Flood season meeting

An Okanogan County flood season coordination meeting will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. April 25 in the commissioner's conference room, 123 5th Ave. N. in Okanogan. The meeting is open to the public. Anyone with comments or concerns is encouraged to attend.

Weather spotter training

A weather spotter training session will be held May 2 at the Okanogan County Sheriff's Office conference room, 123 5th Ave. N. in Okanogan. Earn diploma or GED
