Bridgeport FFA plant sale is biggest and best yet

Posted

BRIDGEPORT – Last Wednesday, May 9, 19 Bridgeport High School FFA students departed for the 88th Washington FFA Convention and Expo at Washington State University campus in Pullman. Proceeds from last week’s annual plant sale helped provide some of the funds necessary to cover trip and lodging expenses.
Bridgeport FFA advisor Adam Corum said  mid-way through the second day of the two-day sale, revenues had already exceeded the previous year by several hundred dollars.
“I think we about $600 or $800 over last year,” said Corum early Saturday afternoon.
Plant selection was still ample despite a well-attended opening the previous day.
“We opened at 3:15 p.m. Friday (May 4),” said Corum, “and I bet there was 50 people in here.”
Sales were brisk enough that of the 50 hanging floral baskets prepared for this year, five were left for Saturday’s buyers.
“Last year, there were all gone in the first couple of hours,” said Corum who increased the available supply this time around.
“We did two-thirds or all our sales yesterday in two hours.” Corum said.
