Wenatchee company gets Made in America nod

BREWSTER – Local business owner Mike Mauk was curious about which Washington state company was selected this year to represent products manufactured in the U.S. for the annual Made in America Product Showcase held at the nation’s capital on July 18. That’s because Mauk has been there.

Last year Mauk owner of Mauk Fishing Stuff received a phone call “out of the blue” asking him if he would be interested in featuring his product, fishing tackle covers in the annual White House event.

“I thought it was some kind of joke,” recalled Mauk who at first did not “bite” on the offer.
Later, after checking out the source of the call and confirming that the invitation was legitimate, he agreed to attend. So, with brother Ernie riding shotgun the two made the trip to D.C. for Made in America Week, the first of its kind under President Donald Trump.

A year later Mauk was naturally interested about which Washington company was invited to make the trip this year. The company selected was CMI Orchards of Wenatchee one of the state’s largest growers, packers and shippers of apples, pears, and cherries (cmiapples.com).
