Billygoats handle Bridgeport, Liberty Bell at NCW Tournament

ENTIAT – The Pateros varsity basketball team took care of business during two games at the North Central Washington Tournament at Entiat last Thursday and Friday, Dec. 27-28.

Pateros defeated Bridgeport, 59-49, and Liberty Bell, 56-43, at the two-day competition.

“We struggled the first quarter both offensively and defensively,” said coach Marcus Stennes of the game against the Mustangs. “Once we settled in, we were able to force 21 turnovers and made some late game baskets to seal the game. We had a big second quarter scoring 20 and limiting them to 7.”

Liberty Bell tolls

“(We) bounced back last night and got another win against Liberty Bell,” said Stennes. “We were able to limit them defensively in the first half, but they made a run to come back within eight in the third quarter. We were able to close it out with a late run.”

Ethan Wall led the Pateros attack with 27 points and 10 rebounds.

Pateros will be back at Entiat on Thursday, Jan. 3, to play the Tigers. The Billygoats will host Soap Lake at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8.
