BREWSTER – The Bears varsity baseball team was never threatened in its 14-1 and 10-0 doubleheader win against visiting Manson last Saturday, April 29.
The Trojans were riding a four-game winning streak but could not get past Brewster’s solid pitching.
Apart from close losses to Liberty Bell and Lake Roosevelt and two low-scoring wins against Soap Lake, Brewster has defeated most of its North Central Washington 2B League opponents by 10 or more runs.
At 13-2 with one game remaining, the Bears are the NCW2B leaders by two games over second-place Liberty Bell at 11-2. The remaining local 2B rankings include:
Soap Lake 10-5
Tonasket 10-5
Lake Roosevelt 9-6
Manson 4-8
Waterville-Mansfield 4-9
Bridgeport 2-13
Oroville 1-14
Brewster was scheduled to take on fourth place Tonasket on the road Tuesday, May 2.
Post season play begins May 9 at the 2B District competition at the Paul Lauzier Athletic Complex in Moses Lake.
