Brooklynne Boesel named WIAA Athlete of Week

BREWSTER – Bears varsity volleyball player Brooklynne Boesel has been named an Athlete of the Week for Oct. 7-13 by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA).

Boesel, a 5’9” junior, racked up a total 63 of 65 serving, 15 aces, 47 digs, 106 attacks, 50 kills, 62 assists, 2 blocks, and led the Bears in serve receiving passes during that week of play. Brewster defeated Bridgeport and Lake Roosevelt and competed in the gold bracket at the Ephrata Halloween Invite on Saturday, Oct. 13.

“Each week throughout the school year, the WIAA recognizes varsity athletes who exhibited an outstanding performance for the previous week (based off of nominations),” said a WIAA media release announcing Boesel’s selection.  “All varsity level students in good academic standing at their schools are eligible to receive the WIAA/Wendy's Athlete of the Week Award. Students may win the award once during any given academic year.”

Athletic directors, coaches, fans and media members can nominate athletes. The weekly deadline is noon, Tuesday.
