Lady Bears advance to District 5/6 volleyball semifinals

BREWSTER – The Lady Bears varsity volleyball team, champions in the Central Washington B-2B League won their opening round of District 5/6 play to advance to the semifinals scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 1, at Royal High School in Royal City.

Brewster defeated White Swan in three straight games, 25-15, 25-11, and 25-19, last Thursday, Oct. 25, for the right to meet Tri Cities Prep in a loser-out game at 4 p.m., Nov. 1.  Tri-Cities defeated Lake Roosevelt, 3-0 to advance.

While the Lady Bears battle the Lady Jaguars, Kittitas will face Walla Walla Valley Academy with the winners squaring off for the District 5/6 title at 8 p.m.

The Coyotes blanked Manson, 3-0, and Walla Walla ran over Soap Lake, 3-0, to make the semifinal round.

“It was kind of a strange match where I felt we never really settled into a rhythm,” said Brewster head coach Marcy Boesel after the White Swan game. “We will work hard this week to get better and to prepare for Thursday's second round of the Regional tournament.”

Brewster was undefeated, 8-0, in League and went 13-2 overall with its only losses to Almira-Coulee-Hartline and Chelan.
