BREWSTER – They had to come from behind to do it, but the Lady Bears varsity soccer girls recovered from a scoreless first-half to catch and pass the visiting Bridgeport Fillies, 2-1, to preserve their undefeated record in the Central Washington B-2B League last Thursday, Sept. 20.

Bridgeport, riding a 2-1 CWB record with wins over Lake Roosevelt and Manson, was looking for its third league win when the Fillies let their 1-0 lead slip away in the second half.

Brewster head coach Alex Sanchez said a score by Kim Nila at the 50-minute mark in the second half knotted the game and Kelsey Ochoa’s goal 10 minutes later put the Lady Bears up for good. The two scores were part of 15 shots on goal from Brewster’s offense.

Bridgeport, with losses to Brewster and Liberty Bell is now 2-2 in fourth place in the CWB-2B behind 2-1 Tonasket. The Fillies were scheduled to host the Tigers on Tuesday, Sept. 25, and travel to Oroville on Thursday, Sept. 27.

Brewster will be on the road for its next three games, meeting the Trojans at Manson, Tuesday, Sept. 25, St. Georges, Saturday, Sept. 29, and Tonasket next Tuesday, Oct. 2.
