Lady Shockers head into the season with young team

Posted

WATERVILLE-MANSFIELD -- The Lady Shockers finished in the middle of the Central Washington 2B league last season and made it as far as the first round of District 5/6 competition before elimination in the loser-out game.
Coach Rubin Salcido lost half of his team, six seniors, to graduation last June and has a young crew to rebuild in 2018. This season’s lineup includes one senior, four juniors, five freshmen, and a single eighth grader.
Mansfield players include Ari Salcido and Breana Ballmes.
The Lady Shockers first game had to be rescheduled owing to unfavorable field conditions. The previously scheduled game for Saturday, March 17, has been moved up to Friday, March 16, and will be a doubleheader at Soap Lake.
