Pateros ball teams dominate doubleheaders over Bridgeport

Posted

BRIDGEPORT – The Pateros varsity ball teams took all four games in a pair of doubleheaders at Bridgeport last Saturday, April 14. The Billygoats varsity baseball team got the best of a young and inexperienced Mustang squad 17-5 in the first game and 30-6 in the second.
The hard-hitting Nannies were too much for the Fillies and won both of their games, 35-3, and 15-5.
A young and inexperienced Fillies team has been struggling all season on the diamond with a team comprised of more than half from the freshman and sophomore ranks and only two seniors and five juniors on the roster. The Bridgeport girls have been enduring double-digit losses at the hands of tough rivals like Brewster, Tonasket, Lake Roosevelt and Liberty Bell who are ranked first, second, third and fourth respectively in the Central Washington 2B league.
The Nannies currently standing in fifth place in the CW2B with a 6-4 record, dropped a game to Liberty Bell, 10-4, on Monday, April 16. They were scheduled to face another tough challenger in Lake Roosevelt on Tuesday, April 17, and a doubleheader against Brewster at home on Friday, April 20.
The Billygoats followed their wins over the Mustangs with a scheduled road trip to Lake Roosevelt on Tuesday, April 17. Pateros will next host Manson at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19.
