PATEROS – With five experienced seniors on the roster and the league’s leading scorer as one of three veteran juniors, the Pateros Billygoats are the team to beat in the Central Washington 1B League this season.

The 2-0 Billygoats notched home court wins over CW1B rivals Cascade Christian Academy, 63-27, on Wednesday, Dec. 12, and Moses Lake Christian, 68-51, last Friday, Dec. 14. Earlier in the season Pateros put up some good numbers against non-league 2B opponents Liberty Bell, 53-47, Bridgeport, 70-72, and Soap Lake, 70-71.

Junior scoring leader Ethan Freels led the Billygoats with 26 points over Cascade as Pateros took a 10-point lead in the opening quarter and never looked back.

“We played good defense and transitioned well for some easy baskets,” head coach Marcus Stennes said.

The Billygoats were scheduled to meet league opponent Riverside Christian on the road, Tuesday, Dec. 18, and will remain on the road through Jan. 8, when Pateros will host Soap Lake.
