Pateros fields 10 veterans for varsity baseball team

Posted

PATEROS – Of the 12 players turning out for Billygoats varsity baseball this season, 10 are returning veterans, said head coach Bob VanLith. The team lost only one senior to graduation last year, but it was a big loss in pitcher Dakota Poole.
Senior Logan Robinson and junior Jeremy Piechalski, just coming off Regional competition with the Central Washington B 1B league and district champion varsity basketball team, traded in their basketball jerseys for baseball togs just in time to make the first practice on Monday, Feb.26.
Doug Viebrock is the only other senior on the roster this season.
Juniors Max Ewing, Tag Easter, Dan Rossman, Ethan Ediger, Zane Dodge, and fresh from the varsity wrestling team, Jesse Ginter are back in uniform.
Scott Moore and Erich Foster are sophomores and Lucas Miller the single freshman on the team. VanLith has no eighth graders on the team this year.
Along with the regular roster of CWB 2B opponents this season, Pateros has scheduled a doubleheader against Riverside Christian and one game against Omak.
This will be VanLith’s 17th year coaching Pateros baseball. He is joined by assistant coach Shane Kelly.
Pateros will open its season at Omak on Tuesday, March 13, followed by Tonasket on the road Saturday, March 17.
