PATEROS – It will be a smaller varsity tennis team taking to the court this year according to head coach Sean Hiltz.
“We have just six boys and one girl,” said Hiltz whose team is the only one among the three Pateros spring sports that have a snow-free area for practice this early in the season.
The Pateros raqueteers are facing a tough lineup of opponents this season with only one school, Entiat, ranked at a Central Washington B 1B school.
Four opponents, Liberty Bell, Tonasket, Oroville, and Lake Roosevelt are at the CWB 2B level. Four others, Chelan, Cascade, Omak, and Okanogan are in the 1A caribou Trail League.
Pateros opens its season on Tuesday, March 13 with a 4 p.m. match against Lake Roosevelt at home. The following day, Wednesday, March 14, Pateros will travel to Chelan for a 4 p.m. game there.
