Quad City qualifiers head for State Track Championships

Pateros sophomore Anna Williams qualified for the state long jump, 100 meters, 200M and 400M.

Brewster’s Ernie Nanamkin will compete in javelin, long jump and 4x400 relay.

Karste Wright qualified for the state high jump event.

Brewster senior Kim Nila will compete in javelin.

Ricky Gonzalez will compete in the 4x400 relay.

QUAD CITIES – More than two dozen Quad City athletes from Pateros to Waterville-Mansfield have qualified to compete in the WIAA 1B, 2B, 1A State Track and Field Championships from Thursday, May 23 - Saturday, May 25, at Eastern Washington University in Cheney.

The top five men and top four women from 1B and 2B District competition made the cut for the trip to Cheney. Among first place winners in the District round was Brewster’s 4x400 men’s relay team, Alfredo Nila in discus, and Karste Wright in high jump.

Issac Ochoa leads Bridgeport with a district first in the pole vault, and Yareli Palacio-Isidra finished first in discus.

Alex Poppie from Waterville-Mansfield took first in the triple jump.

Pateros sophomore Anna Williams will represent the 1B Nannies with a first in the 400 meters.
