Shockers basketball teams run hot and cold during early season

Posted

WATERVILLE-MANSFIELD – The Shockers varsity basketball teams have been having a split season so far where wins are concerned with the girls ranked among the top three teams in the Central Washington 2B League, and the boys near the basement.

The Lady Shockers at 4-1 suffered their only league loss to undefeated Brewster, 61-46, on Nov. 30, but since then have posted wins over Liberty Bell, 45-42 on Dec. 4, Manson, 68-29, on Dec. 11, Soap Lake, 60-35, on Dec. 14, and Tonasket, 57-41, last Tuesday, Dec. 18. The girls are a game behind Lake Roosevelt at 5-1, and a game ahead of 3-2 Liberty Bell on the CW2B ladder.

The Shocker boys are up against some competition this year with Brewster, Oroville, and Lake Roosevelt hovering at the top of the CW2B and still fighting it out to see who keeps the top spot.

The Shockers are still in the hunt for their first league win with losses so far to Brewster, 75-23, on Nov. 30, Liberty Bell, 46-44, on Dec. 4, Manson, 57-20, on Dec. 11, and Tonasket, 64.43, on Tuesday, Dec. 18.

Both Shocker teams were scheduled to take on the Hornets at Oroville, Friday, Dec. 21, and will have a break until Jan. 3, when they host Bridgeport.
