BREWSTER – The Brewster-Pateros-Bridgeport Senior Center will hold its final board meeting of the year at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, and the final general meeting along with election of new 2018 officers at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 26.
The Seventh-Day Adventist School will join the seniors for lunch and entertain at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11.
The New Testament Baptist Church Choir will drop by the Center at 12:30 p.m. after Christmas dinner on Thursday, Dec. 21, to entertain.
“Paula and Walt Peckham have decided they are going to retire from the Center after volunteering for 20 years,” said Center president, Kathy Lowry. “Paula is our current Rummage Room manager and vice-president.”
Center member, Sue Burgess has volunteered to take the rummage room position.
“She will have good help, as the Peckhams will be coming for lunch and can answer any questions Sue may have,” Lowry said.
The Center will host a get-together for the Peckhams after lunch on Thursday, Dec. 28, “to show our appreciation and wish them well on their retirement,” said Lowry. “Ice cream and cake will be served.”
The last Play Day of the year is scheduled from 1-4 p.m., Friday, Dec.15. Visitors need not be members to participate.
“We have chosen our family for the Christmas Giving Tree this year,” said Lowry. “She is a single mother with four young children. Two are school age and two are toddlers.”
Those who wish to support the Center’s cause are invited to take a suggestion from the gift tree, sign it out and return the gift by Thursday, Dec. 21. The gifts will be delivered to the family on Friday, Dec. 22.
“We are also doing a food basket for the family to provide a Christmas dinner,” said Lowry.
Donations are welcome for the food basket as well.
“Changes in the number of days being opened for lunch and the suggested ‘donation’ for that lunch will begin in January,” said Lowry.
Those with suggestion can call 689-2815 and ask for Dot Jess or Carol Thomas for more information.
A date for the Center’s Christmas party is still pending but should be announced next week.
