Thank you!

As I begin to write a thank you, I can only sigh and feel overwhelmed at what the Carlton Complex Fire brought to our communities. The pain of loss is indescribable, homes, animals, cars, land...and yet on the other hand a sense of wonder at how our small towns handled this loss is awe-inspiring. We, too, lost our home and everything in and around it. We left with our vehicles and our dog.

Farewell my friends
My last day with NCW Media; the Lake Chelan Mirror and the Quad City Herald is this week, Aug. 28.

My first day on the job here I remember thinking how friendly everyone was. While that's still true, it's only making my decision to leave that much harder. When I first arrived in Chelan, the first thing I noticed was the beautiful lake, of course, and the neat and tidy little town.

Racism alive and festering across America
Presumption of innocence is not a right specifically enumerated in our Constitution. It is in fact a recognized right in common law that precedes our Constitution's bill of rights and can be found in human legal jurisprudence all the way back to the Roman Empire. In other words, it has long been recognized as a fundamental principle of fairness in most civilized societies. So why are we still arguing about it today?
