Miss Pateros to compete

Posted

PATEROS – Power boats and pulled pork will share this weekend’s billing in Pateros as the annual Terry Troxel Memorial Regatta returns to Lake Pateros and the third annual Whole Hog BBG with a teepee raffle happens as well.
The Whole Hog BBQ hosted by the Pateros-Brewster Community Resource Center (PBCRC) will cook from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, August 17, featuring slow-cooked pulled pork, baked beans, coleslaw, corn on the cob and dinner rolls. Tickets are $10.
An added event this year and one sure to draw plenty of interest is a raffle for a Methow-design teepee handcrafted by Cyndy Miller. Raffle tickets are $5 each and are available at the PBCRC office at 169 Pateros Mall, Suite A, right next to Sweet River Bakery or from PBCRC board/advisory members.
The Map Your Neighborhood project will also have a booth available where residents can register for the program. See more information on page A4.
Tim Hamilton, race director for this year’s hydro regatta expects from 30 to 35 boats this year that will compete in six different classes. Among them will be the Miss Pateros owned and driven by Brandon Cushing. The racing season began in April at Lawrence Lake in Yelm and will conclude at Manson on the last weekend of September. Pateros is the sixth stop on this year’s race schedule.
