County 4-H holds annual awards banquet

OKANOGAN – 4-H groups from around the county gathered at the Okanogan Grange Hall on Saturday, Nov. 18 for their annual awards banquet honoring members for the participation in 4-H projects, county fair participation, and volunteer work.
Groups from Tonasket, Winthrop, Riverside, Malott, Okanogan, Oroville, Brewster and elsewhere were invited to pick up pins, placards and other memorabilia as acknowledgement
4-H which stands for Head, Heart, Hand, Health is the only informal education program with a direct connection to land-grant universities and colleges, according to its informational brochure. 4-H involves more than 6.5 million people throughout all 50 states, U.S. territories and military installations. With the help of more than 540,000 volunteers, 4-H members acquire the skills to help them prepare for 21st. century careers.
Among those 6.5 million are the 23 youngsters of the Valley Venturers 4-H in Brewster who were awarded their 4-H pins. They include: William Reynolds, William Sherrard, Addyson Boesel, Pepper Boesel, Rilynn Carrington, Tyler Lopez, Maxwell Piechalski, Berkley Reagles, Autumn Sherrard, Ryan Lopez, Morgan McGuire, Jacob Piechalski, Nash Sherrard, Abi Swezey, MylaAnne Gray, Addison Henton, Kaydence Carrington, Christopher Piechalski, Serene Hunt, Alley Piechalski, Victoria Reagles, Jillian Piechalski, and Sierra Swezey.
The afternoon also included an auction of baked goods and desserts.
