Man charged with rape of a child

BRIDGEPORT – Douglas County Sheriff Harvey Gjesdal reported that good detective work resulted in the arrest of a Brewster man on charges of second degree rape of a child on Jan. 18, 2018.
Gjesdal wrote that a Douglas County deputy was summoned to investigate the report of a child rape which had occurred at a residence in Bridgeport.
“The report was that a 19-year-old male had sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old female,” wrote Gjesdal. “A detective was assigned to the case and after collecting witness statements and DNA evidence, the male suspect was identified.”
Following the investigation, the suspect was arrested on March 8, and is being on $100,000 bail at the Okanogan County jail.
