NCRL branches now offer snowshoes

Posted

QUAD CITIES – Following the Thanksgiving holiday, cardholders of the 30 branches of the North Central Regional Library (NCRL) system, including Brewster, Pateros, and Bridgeport will be able to check out snowshoes as an aid to experience the winter outdoors.

The snowshoes are sized for adults and children aged 10 and older. They can be checked out for up to five days. They will not be stored at every branch but can be requested and sent there for pickup.

"We live in an amazing place where outdoor access and recreation is so abundant," said NCRL STEM Manager Heather Inczauskis. "Unfortunately for some people access is a barrier. Providing resources like this that help people access the outdoors fosters individual growth — it's beneficial for physical and mental health and can aid in reducing stress."

“NCRL’s STEM program has been working this year to expand opportunities that connect people to the natural world through a series of nature activities,” an NCRL media release said.
