Norman Tupling seeks Douglas County Commission seat

Posted

MANSFIELD - NCW Media's Managing Editor Gary Bégin interviewed Republican Norman Tupling as to why he wants to become the next commissioner in Douglas County, District 3. These are his answers:

NCW Media: What is it that you bring to the table as opposed to your opponent?

Norman Tupling: I know my district very well, I have worked from one end of the county to the other. I believe this gives me a helpful tool to bring to the table if elected to help the existing commissioners gain a better understanding of District 3.

NCW Media: Does your platform have specific help for agriculture?

Tupling: I am an owner operator of a farm in my district so I happen to be dealing with some of the issues farmers face in our county and district, If elected I will do everything I can to help promote agriculture in our county and in District 3 not only because my lively hood is agriculture but because ag is a very important part of Douglas Counties economy.

NCW Media: What are Douglas County's biggest needs?

Tupling: The first need is to restore the relationship between the people and the county. Put the people first. Another thing I will work with the existing commissioners if elected is a thinking ahead attitude. Lets try to be a step ahead so when growth or situations come up we are prepared.

NCW Media: Do you have any ideas on eliminating/reducing the homeless problem in East Wenatchee?

Tupling: I would be a liar if I said I have a guaranteed fix to the housing problem but as people know it boils down to money the cost to buy land, cost to prepare the land, cost to build along with other factors. What I will say is if elected I will work very hard along side the other commissioners to do the best we can to help this situation.

NCW Media: What is the major difference between Bridgeport citizens' needs and East Wenatchee citizens' needs as well as all those in between?

Tupling: The concerns up north may differ a little bit, but I still think that most people are concerned with taxes, roads, property rights, and like I mentioned before that relationship between the people and the county.

NCW Media: Any passions, hobbies, family, education, church?

Tupling: My passions are living for the Lord, my family, and being a successful farmer. I enjoy camping, hunting, and shooting trap. I currently serve as president of the Mansfield Sportsman Club and I am an Elder at the Mansfield Community Church.
