Parade draws a crowd

Apple Pie Jamboree meets expectations and then some

PATEROS – The 71st Apple Pie Jamboree, the city’s largest annual celebration met all expectations and then some as crowds turned out for both the Friday evening parade, July 19, and the Saturday activities, food, and fun in the park and on the water.

Concerns about changing the parade venue from Saturday morning to Friday evening were put to rest when spectators showed up in large numbers making it difficult to find a parking spot within easy walking distance to the parade route.

The popular Wenatchee band Waterdog packed them in at the outdoor dining area behind Sweet River Bakery.

Saturday included all the regular events; the early morning Color Run, breakfast in the park, 3-on-3 basketball, the Ray Stanley Memorial Bass Tournament, Quilt Show and veterans quilt presentation, jet ski races, and fireworks.
