PATEROS – City council members interviewed and elected the newest addition to the five-member body at their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 16.
Holly Bange, a former Bellevue, Wash, resident who moved with her husband to Pateros recently, was elected on a unanimous vote after answering questions posed to her by each council member. Bange was the only qualified candidate of the two who applied to fill the position of Adam Fritz, whose term expired on Dec. 31, 2017. The other failed to meet the council’s two-year residency requirement.
Bange graduated the University of Washington with a BA in economics. Her past business experience included work for a small Seattle-area manufacturer where she supervised the distribution of donations and purchases for Greater Seattle food banks.
Bange worked as a supervising broker at Charles Schwab and Co. “when the company was young, and the mission was to educate people,” Bange wrote in her resume.
Among the questions put to Bange was one from councilman George Brady inquiring if Bange’s current schedule allows the flexibility to attend both regular council meetings, but also additional meetings that council members are asked to attend.
Bange assured Brady that she had ample time to meet the council’s meeting requirements.
In her written state of interest on her council application Bange said: “I love Pateros and want to be a part of what makes this amazing place so special. I want to help and participate.”
Bange is the mother of a grown son and daughter, each with two children of their own. Her grandsons live in Bellevue and granddaughters live in Winthrop.
