Second annual National Night Out is a Brewster hit

BREWSTER – Police chief Nattalie Cariker is already putting together ideas and plans for next year’s National Night Out, in a continuing effort to make it even bigger and better than the second annual event held on Aug. 1.

Free food, fun and games, child I.D. kits, car seat inspections along with free car seats, and a bike raffle attracted scores to the event designed to promote police-community partnerships.

Along with the local police department, personnel and equipment from the City of Brewster Public Works, Douglas Okanogan Fire district 15 EMS, Three Rivers Hospital, Brewster Fire Department, Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Patrol, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Department of fish and Wildlife, Okanogan County Emergency Management, Brewster Chamber of Commerce, several health care facilities and local businesses took part in the community building campaign.

There was much to see and do and it all had to be packed into four hours between 5 and 9 p.m. at the Brewster Boys and Girls Club and Columbia Cove Park.

“We have already been thinking of more items to add next year,” said Cariker. “I hope the helicopter will be available.”
