Suspect shoots mother, turns weapon on himself

BREWSTER – Brewster police and Okanogan County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting and apparent suicide on North Star Road at about 10 a.m. last Sunday, March 18.
Law enforcement units were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of a 19-year-old male with a gun. While en route to the address officers received a second call advising that a female had been shot.
“When officers arrived at the scene they learned that the female victim had left the residence and the suspect was still in the residence,” wrote Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers in a media release.
As officers entered the residence the found the suspect had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Once was residence was cleared and secured, deputies investigating the scene determined that the suspect, Mike Aguirre-Bobadilla, 19, of Brewster, had been at his residence with his mother, Ernestina Aguirre-Bobadilla, 41, and a 10-year-old sister, Rogers wrote.  
“Mike Aguirre-Bobadilla was acting strangely and then went and got a gun from inside the residence,” wrote Rogers. “Mike Aguirre-Bobadilla then shot his mother, striking her in the mouth area. Ernestina Aguirre-Bobadilla was able to get her 10-year-old daughter and run from the residence to a neighbor’s house to get help.”
Mike Aguirre-Bobadilla remained in the residence. When deputies entered they found the suspect with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to Three Rivers Hospital where he died from his wounds.
“Ernestina Aguirre-Bobadilla was also transported to the hospital and then airlifted to Sacred Heart in Spokane,” wrote Rogers. “Her condition is unknown at this time.”
The 10-year-old daughter witnessed the shooting but was not physically injured in the incident. The case remains under investigation.
