Alice Maedean Looper

Posted

Heaven gained a beautiful, sweet angel on Tuesday, February, 26, 2019. Alice Maedean Looper, our precious mom and grandmother went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 91, following a bout with pneumonia and eventual kidney failure. She was surrounded by her large family who loved and cherished her each and every day.

Alice Maedean Looper was born in Roy, Arkansas to Richard and Alice (Hawkins) Westfall. She was raised in Murfreesboro, Arkansas where she met and married R.L. Chambers. Two children, Joe and Dotty were born during these years. Later, she met and married Woodrow Looper. A daughter, Cathy was born to this marriage. They were married 49 years at the time of Woodrow's death in 2001. Alice and Woodrow moved with the three children to Bridgeport, Wash. from Arkansas in 1955 where Alice resided until shortly before her passing. She had very recently come to live with her daughter and son-in-law Cathy and John Huston.

Alice loved her family most of all and loved to spend time with them, especially family gatherings. She would always say these were her favorite times. Alice loved her cat, Shadow who became her constant companion. She loved to garden raising both flowers and vegetables. She enjoyed vacations with family, going to the mountains camping with family, and taking long road trips to Arkansas pulling their trailer while seeing the sights along the way. She was always the driver and loved to see the country side. Alice was an excellent seamstress making most of Dotty and Cathy's clothes when they were growing up. She was also famous for her delicious southern cooking enjoyed and loved by all. Alice was a devoted mother who's life centered around her three children and her extended family. She will always be remembered as a kind, sweet, gentle soul with a beautiful heart and spirit. She was welcoming to all and always had a meal, dessert or glass of ice tea ready when company came. As a southerner, she always invited everyone that visited to hurry back.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow Looper, mother and father Alice and Richard Westfall, her sister Eva Lingo (Westfall), brother Cletus Westfall, son-in-law Gordon Shrable, nephew Richard Westfall, niece Sylvia Lingo, and other extended family and dear friends.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Joe (Wanda) Looper, Dotty Shrable, Cathy (John) Huston, grandchildren, Mike (Raeon) Looper, Scott (Tracy) Looper, Terry (Krisana) Shrable, Chris (Liane) Shrable, Kimberly (Russell) Martins, Gretchen (Brandon) Whitelaw, Jessica (Paul) Erickson, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, her nephew David Lingo, niece Ann Osbourne and her cat she loved and constant companion Shadow.
