Ellis Leonard Morton

Ellis Leonard Morton, 88 of Bridgeport, Wash. passed away after a battle with cancer on January 31, 2019 at Central Washington Hospital. He was born February 14, 1930 in Marcus, Wash. the son of Lloyd Arthur Morton and Jewell (Hobbs) Morton. He grew up in Chelan and graduated from Chelan High School in 1949. Ellis was married to his first wife Dorothy (Eddings) from 1950 to 1989. Ellis married Bonnie (McLeod/Winkel) in 1990.

Ellis managed a shoe store in Walla Walla, Wash. from 1952-54. He was the purchasing agent for Holden Mine from 1954-57. He then started his career with the Douglas County PUD 1957-89 moving to East Wenatchee then Bridgeport, Wash. retiring as PUD Auditor.

Ellis belonged to Lake Woods Golf, Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, Eagles and was a volunteer fire fighter/EMT as well as many other community positions.

Ellis is survived by his wife Bonnie, brother Marvin, sister Alice Adams, two daughters Vicki Morton and Teresa Archachan both of Spokane, Wash., three step-children, Wendy Zornes (husband Jeff) of Monroe, Wash., CJ McLeod (wife Dorcas) of Oakview, Calif., and Carl McLeod (wife Althea) of Oak Harbor, Wash. He has several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ellis was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jerry, Dale, Harold, first wife Dorothy and daughter Kristine.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 12, at the United Methodist Church in Chelan. A Reception will follow the service at the same location on Johnson Avenue in Chelan.
