At the age of 19, she caught the eye of a young school teacher, Jacob “Jakie” Jay Lang, who was working as a summer ranch hand. In 1938 they exchanged wedding vows in Waterville, Wash. Lorena and Jakie moved to Gackle, North Dakato where they began a family with the birth of a son, Allen Kenneth. Their world drew heavy and their love persevered when he passed in his infancy.
