Operation Christmas Child by Samaritans Purse, annual collection is coming soon, Nov. 18-25. For 20 years Samaritans Purse has delivered shoebox gifts packed by caring people like you to hurting children around the world. So start planning what you will put into your shoebox for a child 2-14 years old. Things to include are small toys, dolls, trucks, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, balls, school supplies, hygiene items, t-shirts, socks, ball caps and flashlights (with extra batteries). No chocolate or food, war toys, knives or military figures, liquids or lotions, medications, vitamins, breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers or aerosol cans. A local drop-off will be at the Brewster Adventist Christian School, at 115 Valley Road on the Brewster Flat, Nov. 18-25, Monday through Thursday, 1 to 3 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m. to noon; Saturday, 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
