Brewster Council gives green light for test well drillings

BREWSTER – A special city council meeting was held at noon Friday, Feb. 8, to authorize Mayor Art Smyth to sign the contract for drilling of five test wells at locations around the city.

O’Connell Drilling of Brewster was the selected from three bidders to drill the test sites at locations including the newly acquired Sunset property, near the city reservoirs and the park system. Two of the three bids submitted were incomplete.

This will be the second round of test wells the city has attempted. The first five were not acceptable because either the quantity or quality of the water sources did not meet city requirements, said city clerk/treasurer Misty Ruiz.
