OMAK – The sound of drums will come from the Omak Tribal Longhouse on Saturday, May 11, as the United Pow Wow makes its 31st annual appearance at 25 Mission Road.

Native American dancers and drummers will gather for an afternoon of activities beginning in the early afternoon followed by a dinner at 5 p.m. The first of two grand entries will begin at 1 p.m. with an evening grand entry at 7 p.m. after dinner.

The public is invited to the free, drug-and alcohol-free event funded by the Colville Confederated Tribes, the Red Road Association, Wenatchee Valley College (WVC) at Omak, and the Omak School District Salish Language class. Dave Madera will serve as Master of Ceremonies and Cody Saint as arena director.

“A United Pow Wow queen, princes and brave will be selected for the 2019-2020 reign,” A WVC media release said. “All drummers and dancers are welcome, and host drums will be chosen at each session.”

The Longhouse is near Paschal Sherman School about six miles east of downtown Omak via Highway 155.
