WVC Foundation honors NCRL Executive Director Barbara Walters

WENATCHEE – Barbara Walters, the new Executive Director of the North Central Regional Library (NCRL) will be among five honorees at the Wenatchee Valley College (WVC) Foundation Gala on May 18. Walters, who took over the reins of the NCRL in July 2018, will be awarded the WVC Foundation’s Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award for 2018.

In its media release announcing Walters and the other nominees, WVC Foundation said the Distinguished Alumni award “recognizes outstanding achievement by alumni of Wenatchee Valley College. As Executive Director of North Central Regional Library, Barbara Walters is able to leverage and use her many years of dedicated library work to fulfill her passion for connecting people and communities to the Important resources and services that the library district offers.”

The North Central library network includes branches in Pateros, Brewster and Bridgeport among its 30 locations.

Walters graduated WVC in 1993 and later the University of Phoenix before earning her master’s degree from Drexel University.

The WVC Foundation Gala starts at 5 p.m. in Orchard Hall at the Wenatchee Convention Center. The event will include a formal dinner, silent and live auctions and awards presentations. Tickets can be reserved online at www.wvc.edu/foundation/gala or by calling (509) 682-6410.

Incorporated in 1971, the WVC Foundation builds relationships between the community and the college raises financial support for WVC students, programs, faculty and staff.
