EAST WENATCHEE – Douglas County PUD Commissioner Ron Skagen has been appointed as one of nine nominees to the American Public Power Association Executive Board, a national public power organization with more than 2,000 member utilities. Skagen is one of only two representatives appointed from Region 9 that includes, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska.

Skagen assumed the office of PUD Commissioner in January 2007 and currently serves as president of the board. He was also president of the Washington Public Utility Districts Association in 2017-18.

In a PUD media release, Skagen said "I'm honored to be chosen to serve on the APPA Executive Board, I'm looking forward to learning more and being pushed to a higher level by the other utility industry leaders on the board. I appreciate that Douglas PUD has always encouraged commissioners and staff to grow and been given opportunities to improve. It's a part of who we are."
