Monsanto Funds offers agriculture study scholarships

QUAD CITIES – High school seniors and college students in rural communities can apply for more than $500,000 in agriculture-related scholarship funds under the America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders program sponsored by the Monsanto Fund.

The scholarships are available to students who want to continue their educations in ag-related fields of study.

Students pursuing or intending to pursue an ag-related degree can apply for $1,500 scholarships through Feb. 6, and farmers have through Feb. 13 to endorse student applications.

Applicants must be under 23 years of age, have a minimum 2.5 grade point average (GPA) and have two farmer endorsements.

Eligibility requirements are provided on the National FFA website at ffa.org/participate/grants-and-scholarships/local-engagement-programs-scholalrships/The Monsanto Fund is a non-profit philanthropic arm of Bayer and awarded grants totaling more than $24 million in 2016. Since 1964 the Monsanto Fund has partnered with more than 12,000 organizations and 6,000 schools in 47 countries on six continents, according to its website, www.monsantofund.org.
