Pateros graduates prepare to take on the world

PATEROS – More than two dozen members of the Class of 2019 began their journeys to take on the world during graduation ceremonies in the high school gym last Saturday, June 1.

Among the 26 graduates, more than half, 14, were 12-year seniors and six continued the tradition of Generations of Graduates with a father, mother or grandparent who also graduated PHS.

Class Salutatorian Andrea Baird and Valedictorian Ashlyn Gonzalez were High Honors graduates with grade point averages of 3.8 to 4.0. Classmates Samantha White, Sam Larsen and Osvaldo Garibay were Honors graduates with GPAs from 3.0 to 3.79.

Tag Easter made the Superintendent’s List with a 3.75 or higher GPA and the Principal’s List added Zane Dodge with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Graduates who also earned their AA degrees from Wenatchee Valley College included Baird, Gonzalez, Dodge, Garibay, White, Larsen, Emily Garcia, Viridiana Ramirez and Jasmin Tellez.

Sam Larsen and Omar Mota delivered the welcome remarks to guests. Mark Miller of Pateros was the day’s guest speaker.

Superintendent Greg Goodnight, Principal Mike Hull, and Board of Directors Chair Grace Larsen presented graduates with their diplomas.

Scholarship awards were announced by Nate Taylor (John Taylor Memorial Athletic Scholarship), Scott and Jason Worsham (Jolee Worsham Marker Memorial Scholarship), Brody Blackburn (Pateros Scholarship Fund NCWCF) and Jim Broome. In his remarks, Broome noted that a total of $278,992 in scholarships were awarded to the Class of 2019.
