Undefeated Lady Bears claim league soccer title with Raiders win

BREWSTER – With the Central Washington 2B League soccer championship virtually locked up, the unbeaten Lady Bears played their last regular season game on the road against the Raiders at Lake Roosevelt, Thursday Oct. 26, a team Brewster beat 7-1 at home on Oct. 21. This time around the score was 3-1 Bears.
Brewster maneuvered 20 shots on goal while holding the Raiders offense to only three. Lady Bears senior forward Yalina Vargas scored twice for Brewster and freshman defender Halle Aparicio scored once.
Two days earlier the Lady Bears held Bridgeport scoreless in a 7-0 win on the Fillies’ home turf, Tuesday, Oct. 24.
Brewster was scheduled to host Mabton in the semifinal round of Bi-District 5/6 playoffs on Tuesday, Oct. 31, while second-place Liberty Bell hosted No. 4 Tonasket. The winners will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4 on the soccer pitch of the higher seed. Both teams will advance to State beginning Thursday, Nov. 9, at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner.
Mabton defeated the Fillies at Bridgeport in a loser-out quarterfinal round on Thursday, Oct. 28, to advance against the No. 1 state-ranked Lady Bears.
