Bears fall to NW Christian, 6-0

Posted

BREWSTER – The road to a state appearance for the Bears varsity girls’ soccer team ended with a 6-0 crossover loss to the District 7 No. 2 seed Northwest Christian Crusaders at Colbert on Nov. 3.

A week earlier, Brewster came up short in a 4-1 loss to Okanogan in the Central Washington 2B league semifinal game on Oct. 28. The Bears made up for the loss with a 5-1 win over Liberty Bell when the Mountain Lions came to town on Oct. 31.

“We played a very good passing game,” said assistant coach Raf Sanchez. “Especially the first half where we jumped on them quickly, scoring two goals within 10 minutes.”

Pepper Boesel and Alex Soto led the Bears with two goals apiece. Yaretzi Sahagun contributed a pair of assists. Goalkeeper Mayra Garcia had five saves. The Bears had 15 goal shots.

“Our subs did a great job keeping up the high pressure,” Sanchez said.
