Bears have a field day at League Track Championships

Two dozen advance to District

BREWSTER – The Bears varsity track and field team had a literal field day hosting last Wednesday’s CW2B League Championships. The new track facilities must have agreed with the home team as the men’s side took first and the women second among the eight schools that competed.

Junior Cort Gebbers outdistanced his nearest rival by 50 feet in the discus and six feet in the shot. His shot toss of 48 feet, 1 inch, was short of his earlier personal record and new school record of 49’9” set on April 28 at the Rieke Invitational in Leavenworth.

Senior Francisco Duran had a good day winning both the 110-meter and 300M high hurdles. Duran also helped his team win the 4x400 relay,

Junior Kaydence Carrington owned the distance events, winning the 800M, 1600M, and 3200M meter runs.

Junior Dave Hampe won the 400-meter run and senior Juan David Martinez captured the 1600M.

Two dozen Bears will advance to the 2B District Championships in Oroville on May 17. The top two finishers in each district event advance to State on May 25 at Eisenhower High School in Yakima.
