BREWSTER – The Bears baseball and softball teams took a big step closer to state following wins over Manson and Liberty Bell on Tuesday, May 7.

The Lady Bears jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first inning of play against visiting Liberty Bell and cruised to an 18-3 final to advance to the district quarterfinals against Okanogan. Brewster will meet the undefeated Bulldogs at Okanogan at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 10. The winner will advance to the district championship against either Lake Roosevelt or Tonasket on May 14.

The Bears varsity baseball team ended Manson’s season, 8-2, on the Trojans’ home diamond on Tuesday, May 7, to advance against Okanogan. Brewster will host the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, May 9, in a loser-out game to state. The winner will join Liberty Bell, who defeated Okanogan, 10-0, to clinch its state appearance.

The Bridgeport Mustangs varsity soccer team faces Quincy in the Wenatchee Apple Bowl at 6 p.m. today in a double-elimination game for a state slot. The winner will face Cashmere or Cascade on May 11 in the Apple Bowl. Both teams advance to state. The loser of the Cascade/Cashmere match will play the loser of the Bridgeport Mustangs match, and the winner of that game will advance to state.
