Posted

OMAK—The second annual MEChA May Festival will be held on Friday, May 17, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Wenatchee Valley College at Omak campus. This family-friendly, free event is open to the public.

Folklórico Corazón de México from Wenatchee High School will perform folkloric dances. There will also be live mariachi music, traditional street tacos, and vendors selling handmade items.

“It is important for us to show our culture because it has always united our families and brings us all closer together,” said Edith Gomez, WVC at Omak Campus Life and Diversity Coordinator.

The MEChA Club focuses on promoting higher education, self-identity, and historical/cultural knowledge that benefits and empowers the Latinx community. Thus, it creates social change through education and self-determined political action.
