Student-crafted ornaments go up in Pateros Memorial Park

Posted
The first graders used construction paper and drew around their hands, and those were the antlers for their paper reindeer. The second graders took colored string and wrapped it around a blown-up balloon, then popped the balloon. The kindergarten students took those new little round Pepsi bottles - they really do look like a Christmas ball, and filled them full of pretty Christmas stuff. And last Friday afternoon, Dec. 12, every single student, kindergarten to sixth grade, at Pateros School took their Christmas ornaments down to Pateros Memorial Park.

It was just starting to snow, which made it a perfect time to hang all those ornaments on the trees in the park. Volunteer helpers took the ornaments from the kids and hung them on the trees, where they will remain until the New Year.

It was chilly, it was windy, but it was fun; the third and fourth graders started playing ring-around-the-rosy while they waited for the other classes to finish hanging their ornaments. After all the ornaments were on the trees all the children and teachers climbed back on the buses and went back to school for hot chocolate.
